Description: This listing is for an Antique 19th C painting depicting a Windmill & Cottage By a River. It is a SIGNED Original Painting. It measures approximately ~12x14 inches in its frame, the work itself measures approximately 8x10 inches on its stretchers. I have been unable to decipher the signature due to the age of the piece, and it being slightly obscured in the work itself- but the first initials seem to be R K. It is otherwise unmarked. It depicts a warm little scene, a little bit of rural (likely European- Dutch I would assume) cultural life. This sort of scene is one that becomes rarer and rarer in the modern world- especially here in the states. Likely a 19th century piece, possibly earlier if the artist could be identified. The classic style & gorgeous frame is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of styles of decor. It makes this an excellent extra piece for your collection, one your friends definitely wont have! It is a great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor. It is in good condition, with no major damage. There are no large stains or other areas of water damage visible in the paint. There are no major areas of damage or fading to the work itself, no holes or tears, it has remained protected in what I believe to be the original frame. There is some light crackling, see photos, which is typical of an antique oil painting, but no major cracking or loss of paint.
