Description: A remarkable 1920s painted folk art game board. Features a dual-sided design, offering both a traditional chessboard and Parcheesi. Enamel on wood. One side displays a vibrant varihued pink and black checkered chessboard, framed by intricate, hand-painted geometric symbols in white. The border includes arrows, triangles, and “X” motifs, possibly evoking influences from African American art. Anchored by bold, blue and black interlocking circular patterns on the top and bottom panels. On the reverse side, a cross-shaped Parcheesi game board, rendered in cream, red, and blue, with a bold central medallion. Game board is finished with a dark stained slatted frame. Unsigned.
