It seems to be peeling. It does not affect the shoe integrity. The strap lining must not be leather I am assuming. I did notice it on other similar shoes selling online. It’s definitely a manufacturer error. The rest of the shoe has genuine soft leather that is a good quality. Soft faux leather padded insole. Slight platform of a little over 1/2”. I took photos for you to see. Price reflects condition of the back strap.
