Description: A"Used" Ray Cook "Original" Mallet Head Putter with Pistol Grip! Putters! There might be more designs of putters than there are different models of Gol Clubs. Ray Cook Putters were well represented of the LPGA & PGA tours in the 60's,70's, and 80's, and are credited with over 200 tour wins. Ray Cook Putters are still sold today, but the models in today's market do not look anything at all like the Originals. I suppose the new age putters are well designed and are probably made with Space Age materials, the Putters I see on TV and in Golf Shops are so complicated looking, it makes you think you need an engineering degree to use them. This putter is one of the early models and it has seen a lot of golf, This one has a lot of nicks and dings from bag rattle, and probably from slamming it very hard back into the bag when an easy putt is missed, and harder when a money winning putt is missed! The head is made from an aluminum alloy, and has three lead weights set into the sole. The saw cuts in the bottom and top of the putter head are most likely something to create or enlarge the sweet spot. I would sure like to know how they make the cut on the top of the putter that is parallel to the putter face, without cutting into the two horizontal cuts on the top of the putter. As a retired Machiniat, I can tell you that the way those cuts are done without going through the other cuts, is some very GOOD engineering! The shaft has no name on it and it is not stepped, but one straight taper frpm the hosel to the grip. The Ray Cook Pistol Grip has a small chip at the bottom of the grip and the grip is pretty slick, but if it were scrubbed a couple of times with a steel wool soap pad, it ought to liven it up.
