The reverse designs depicted a national park or other national site for each U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia. The ATB quarter-dollars were issued at a rate of five new designs each year. They were ordered by the date which each selected park was was first established as a National site. This collection is brimming with the history of our National Parks. For instance, history buffs will appreciate that Hot Springs in Arkansas is first on the list, even though Yellowstone is widely considered to be the first National Park.
