Ellen Gwen Patric, 19, was named Miss Charlotte-Mecklenburg in Sunday's beauty pageant sponsored by the Mecklenburg Jaycees. The Queens college sophomore, from Elkins, West Virginia, is eligible to compete in the Miss North Carolina contest scheduled for June in Charlotte. Miss Patric won a $400 scholarship to a school of her choice, a $600 scholarship to Patricia Stevens School of Modeling affiliated with Biscayne Southern College in Charlotte and a $200 wardrobe. The runners-up, both of Charlotte, were, first, Cassandra Stone, 19, and second, Suzanne Presnell, 19. Michelle Manire, 19, was selected Miss Congeniality. Photo measures 6.25 x 10inches.
