Description: I will start by saying it amazes me what people are paying for obvious restamped carburetors and carburetors with the wrong top or bottom or both. The sellers don't mention it of course. I see things like made in the USA and original carburetor to confuse people. Also people putting them on their cars to fool buyers into thinking it's a real and correct carburetor. They are so easy to spot. The area where the actual number is stamped is usually very smooth. Because they sand the original number down. This carburetor is an original RA III IV automatic 7040270 carburetor. It has all the original casting numbers and all the original secret stamped numbers which are all clearly pictured. This carburetor is in great original condition and ready for a restoration. I have been an auto mechanic and Pontiac enthusiast for 50 years. I looked it over very well and the only issue and it is minor is the threads for the vacuum fitting on the base have a few marks. I have seen it before and is usually from the fitting breaking off in the base. They got it out but put some marks in the threads. I ran a correct pipe thread tap into it and it cleaned up very easily. I also installed a fitting into it and it fits very tight without even going all the way in. You can see this in the last two pictures. The fitting is not included but is in another auction. So it is just cosmetic and of no issue at all. Every other thread and part of this carburetor is in great shape. You will look a long time to find another 7040270 RA carburetor this nice. One other thing is the choke pulloff is not the correct style but I do have NOS available. This one was on it so just left it alone. Buyer to pay 30.00 shipping which will include insurance and signature confirmation. That means someone will need to be at your confirmed eBay address when it arrives to sign for the package.
