It is dated September 7, 1967 during the time of President Charles de Gaulle. Both President Franklin Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill detested Charles de Gaulle during World War II. Proud, stiff-necked, and demanding, they found him more than difficult to work with. They both found ways to do so however and France was wrested back from the Germans and the war was won. The note pictures “Voltaire” who lived from 1694 until 1778. He was a philosophical firebrand during “The Enlightenment”. Born François-Marie Arouet, he used his sharp wit to challenge authority and champion reason. His relationship with Frederick “The Great” of Prussia was a fascinating dance. Initially, they admired each other's intellect, corresponding and exchanging ideas. Voltaire even spent time at Frederick's court. However, their egos clashed, and their friendship ultimately soured.
