Description: 1965 Custom Shop NOS Stratocaster 1998. Super rare maple cap 1965 reissue Fender stratocaster guitar in sunburst. This is guitar at 25 years old is certainly in the category of vintage guitars. (Just like a 65 strat in 1990 was vintage and probably repainted, refretted, repotted and had any vintage quality already removed by eager to please guitar luthiers.) This guitar is unmolested with 100% fret life. With custom shop foundation master builder employee John Page at the helm of the Custom shop this model ran from 1998-99. At a time when Custom Shop certificates were filled out by hand this is a super rare gem for the collector of investment guitars. Whether you are a player of fine quality rare instruments or a collector this is an instrument that has rarely seen sunlight in the last 25 years. The fretboard is unmarked and the entire instrument is almost free of any kind of wear and tear. An easy 9.5 out of 10. Look hard enough and you might find a flaw. There are some small chips in the lacquer around some tuning pegs. A couple of tiny marks from being in a guitar stand on the rear of the guitar that you have to hold in the right light to see. Leo Fender did indeed release a small headstock maple neck stratocaster in 1965. For those who are interested, Jimi Hendrix played a candy apple maple neck strat and smashed it on stage at the Saville theatre on June 4 1967 with 'The Beatles' in attendance while he stunned the audience with the title track cover song of the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album officially released only 9days earlier on 26th of May.
