Description: This is a rare April 1945 sign from SMITH-BRIDGMAN'S DEPARTMENT STORE (see picture), indicating the store closure in tribute to the death of PRESIDENT FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT. Specifically, this 7 inches by 11 inches thin cardboard sign reads "Store Closed Saturday 3 p.m. In Tribute To President Roosevelt". The store name is in the lower left corner. Smith-Bridgman's Department Store was an iconic store in downtown FLINT, MICHIGAN. It was founded in 1862, closed in 1980, and the building was demolished in 1984. This sign is clean and intact, exhibiting some wear, staining, and discoloration from handling and storage over the past 79 years. It would make a nice addition to your own collection, or it would make a wonderful gift for that Franklin Roosevelt enthusiast, Flint historian, or vintage sign collector in your life! Postage is $5.00. And, of course I'll combine postage on multiple purchases. Sorry, NO international shipping. Be sure to check the other items in my eBay store, too!
