This is a good stock certificate -- An electric Sherlock Holmes in the Westinghouse Research Laboratories says that this "doubtful" stock certificate is printed on the same grade of paper as a certificate which is known to be good and therefore it is probably a good certificate. The statement is based on a scientific analysis of the thinness of paper. The stock in this case is the same as that used n a certificate which is known to be good. Almost invariably imitations are printed on a slightly different stock and the electric Sherlock Holmes quickly brands them as false. This new device was invented by C.C. Hein to find a grade of magazine paper which would be thick enough to prevent print from showing through and thin enough to be economical. There are hopes of using the electric Sherlock Holmes to distinguish painting of great masters from copies and imitations.Photo measures 7.5 x 9.75inches. Photo is dated 04-13-1931.
