Description: 1928 PETER DePAOLO FLYING CLOUD MILLER RACER INDY 500 AUTO RACING SPEEDWAY PHOTO This is a rare shot of Peter DePaolo in his Flying Cloud MILLER Special at the garage area of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, circa May 1928. Note the clipper ship painted on the side of car above where it says Flying Cloud Special. The #1 car has a Harry Miller chassis and the famed Miller I-8/90 cubic inch motor. Peter was the winner in the 1925 Indy 500 driving the #12 Duesenberg car. Peter wrecked his front wheel drive Miller in qualifying for the 1928 500, but the car was repaired for Wilbur Shaw to drive while Pete watched from his stretcher. Wilbur qualified 29th and finished 25th, only putting in 42 laps till retiring from the race. Notice how low he sits in the narrow machine. This reproduction real photo was taken from a negative. It measures 8 X 10 inches. It is a black and white glossy with a white border. In mint condition. A great photo!
