Description: If one counts all the major varieties of Indian Cents, the 1871 Shallow N is by far the most rare entry in the series -- more so than the 1877 or 1909-S. Those who have been looking for one to complete their collection will know this from experience. Even in circulated grades this is a challenging entry. While this coin has a rough surface -- probably from having been buried -- the color is quite nice and even, and there is no active corrosion. Overall this would be a great coin for an album or to keep in the slab with the variety designation from NGC.
